Gonorrhea!

I've just been watching the new NHS adverts about sexually transmitted diseases, encouraging people to wear condoms, and I've decided that the brushed steel gonorrhea belt buckle is fucking cool.

Adverts.

I've just seen the advert for the new Durex Play vibrating ring.Apparently its the first time a sex toy has been advertused on tv.

I can totally explain my lack of posts....

You see, the co-owner of this blog is very particular (and she knows 5 ways to kill someone with her bra) so this pedanticism (and the fact that she could kill me with her bra) combined with her devotion to this blog (death by bra sound appealing to you?) has led me to not risk posting...but now it appears my lack of posts has incurred her wrath. So, I shall be posting forthwith!

well, thats my excuse anyway....
On Friday 29th of December there will be a "Reclaim The Night" March in Ipswich in memory of the five dead women, and in protest against violence against women.

Anyone of any sex, age, gender, sexual orientation, race, colour or creed is welcome, all that matters is that you feel that violence against women is generally a bad thing!

It will be starting at seven pm at the town hall steps (near Debenhams if you are not too familiar with Ipswich) and more information can be found here: IPSWICH RECLAIM THE NIGHT MARCH

Even if you are unable to come along yourself, it would be wonderful if you could pass this information along to family and friends (my mother has vowed to come along with me and my mates, because she believes in this cause), or maybe post it on your MySpace profile etc?

I have posted on the forums that I used, and emailed everyone that I know who lives in the area, and hopefully I may be putting up posters in my town.

I have recently found out that I am distantly related to Tania Nicholls, one of the murdered women, but I am not taking part in this march just because of this, I am taking part because it is a cause that I believe, and everyone has the right to feel safe on their own streets.

A little ego-boost for you...

Fed up of low self-esteem? Always putting yourself down? Then this is for you! http://www.jobsite.co.uk/youaremighty/index2.html

Believe it or not, that is actually part of a job-finding website and is designed to up your self-esteem, not to make you wet your pants giggling at the cheesiness of it!

And I should really credit this one to RJ, as she sent me the link.

Whatever Happened To Free Speech?

I've just realised that Natasha Lyonne (http://imdb.com/name/nm0005169/) who played the interesting and cool Jessica in the American Pie movies also had the lead role in the queercore (and fantastic) movie But I'm A Cheerleader, due to this article: http://logo-blogs.com/afterellen/2006/12/18/and-you-thought-she-was-crazy-in-freeway-ii/

It's kind of upsetting to know that she had a drug problem, but at least she's over it now. And there was a warrant for her arrest because she threatened to do unspeakable things to her neighbours dog? I mean, come on. I threatened to kill my friend with a spoon if he messed up my hair again, does that mean that I can be arrested for attempted murder?

Jezebelle ponders the mysteries of the universe...Part Deux

Revels.

Now, I am not a particularly big fan of these sweets, but I received some as a christmas present, and eating them in the bath, I formed Jezebelle's Theory of Revels, which is thus:

Perfectly round, large ones, tend to be malteser

Round, flat ones, seem to usually be toffee

Small, irregularly shaped ones are raisins because of course raisins are all dofferent shapes and sizes, but never round

Now, the only ones I don't have clue about are coffee and orange, yet these are the ones that I most need to identify because I hate them! Any ideas?

I'd like to thank my mum, and the taxi-driver and most of all Jesus...

Moi has just won the schools Geography prize, and the Rotary Club Prize for Outstanding Progress! I got a shiny £50 of book tokens too! I must say, I did deserve the Geography one, my coursework was one mark off of perfect, and I had to do it all outside of school...

Ahem,modest,aren't I?

L Word Season Four Promos: The last lot, I swear!

OH MY GOD. It's the return of Cherie Jaffe!

L Word Season Four Promos: Out of formalwear! Round Quatre

And now, the best for last: Yet more new blonde characters. The lady in the first photo is apparently called Phyllis, and looks quite Power-Lesbian-y, perhaps a foil for Bette?

The woman in the second two is credited as Jodi, yet she looks suspiciously similar as the woman credited as Marlee posing with Bette here: http://allthatsbestofdarkandbright.blogspot.com/2006/12/more-l-word-promos.html If anyone could shed some light on this it would be appreciated.Maybe I'm getting characters and actresses' names mixed up?

And last but not least, two rather sweet pics of our Shane, looking quite upbeat, which is good.

L Word Season Four Promos: Out of formalwear! Round Trois

Some very uncharacteristic photos now, Alice in an ugly shirt, and Helena looking quite adorable! Flame me at will.

L Word Season Four Promos: Out of formalwear! Round Deux

Just realised I still have fourteen shiny new promo shots to share, so theres gonna be a hell of a lot more posts, as for some reason I can only put five up at once.

Okay, so here we have Tina with a very fixed smile...maybe Helena just told a joke.

Ooh, Bette's got a wine-glass, could she have fallen off the wagon again, a la her Season Two breakdown?

Oh, and one of Jenny looking quite sweet, which she usually does.As long as she doesn't open her mouth, and speak, like, actual words.

L Word Season Four Promos: Out of formalwear!

Now, this is gonna excite a lot of people, Dark And Bright has L Word Season Four promo shots with...Karina Lombard! Marina's back!

Hmm, and I'd like to apologise for my earlier post when I stated that Alice's new butch squeeze was called Papi.It seems that the Asian girl here is called Papi, making Alice's new love interest Tasha (bottom picture).Possibly...

Yet more L Word-related stuff!

Just re-found this forum discussion, "You know you watch too much L Word when.." http://www.queeryouth.org.uk/community/index.php?act=ST&f=86&t=12139&s=15ba78c5ab967c0254768717d15a9a75

Jezebelle ponders the mysteries of the universe...

Dear reader (if,indeed, there are any.And if there are, could you please drop us a line to tell us you exist? Email address is at the top of the page, or just leave a comment...) Now, where was I? Oh yes, I am now going to impart some worldly wisdom. I, Jezebelle, am going to give you the answer to one of life's thusfar unanswered questions: the meaning of eyebrows! I have often wondered why we have those little arcs of hair, and today it came to me in a flash. They're so you know when to stop applying eyeshadow! It's so simple, yet it makes so much sense!

Iwantoneofthose.com

Iwantoneofthose.com is a truly fantabulous site, as if everyone didn't know that already, but I am annoyed with it at the mo, as everything I wanted to order for Christmas has sold out, including this adorable little suit for my Jack Russell! I'd got all excited at the thought of him running around on Christmas Day like a loon, the little bell jingling merrily, but tis not to be...

Now, IWOOT have stocked some crazy and amazing things in their time, but this takes the proverbial biscuit. Not so much for the idea, which is actually pretty cool, but the godawful price...£3000! Why, for god's sake? They're not even real palm-trees! Actually, one suspects that real palm-trees would probably be a damn site cheaper. And the fronds have built-in UV protection, do they? How amazing, so does sunscreen, and thats not exactly difficult to put on.

For a closer look at what I'm ranting about, looky here: http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/lifestyle-home/bbq-garden/desert-island-hammock/index.html

On a brighter note, they also stock my really rather cool backwards clock, so for a touch of Dark And Bright-endorsed homewear, click here: http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/office-toys/backwards-clock/index.html

And will IWOOT give me some goodies for all this free publicity? Will they arse!

More L Word promos!

Helena Peabody! *Boo! Hiss!*

Hey, I'm not being cruel, it's panto season!

But seriously, Helena could have been great, she's brunette, British, and has a sexy upper-class accent. If only she wasn't such a control-freak ego-maniac...

Lovely frock though.

Shane. Looking like a rock star. No, looking edible.Ooh,look, you can see she's wearing white pants. Hugo Boss, methinks?

Hmm, now this pic is intriguing, Bette, with two new characters who are apparently called Marlee (left) and Cybil (right). Hell, for all I know they could have been in the show a year already. I need Season Three.

Now, this pic I'm quite excited about.Apparently the new chick is called Papi, she's Alice's new love interest, and aside from looking stunning in that photo, she's set to become the show's first butch character, apparently. Can't say I'm feeling the bitch vibe, but it should be interesting.

L Word Season Four Promos

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Dark And Bright has managed to get hold of some L Word Season Four promo shots! (Although the fact that no-one here has even got to watch Season Three yet due to lack of satelleite does take away some of the excitement.) Aw, but just look at that shot of the full cast, looking very gangster-y and film noir...

Then of course we have the main cast, with Leisha Hailley in some rather fetish footwear. Seriously, can you imagine Alice wearing that? The comedy stumbles would be hilarious.

And as the next picture in that snazzy gold dress goes to show, Alice would be damn sexy, if she wasn't so sweet and funny. As it is, there's an uncomfortable balance between "aww" and "phwoar".

Now that last photo of Miss Hailley with in the interesting grecian-style dress is nice, for Mia is back with Season One hair! And Kate in that silk shirt thing...

And some Beals, for RJ.

Postsecret

I've mentioned this site before, and it's in my list of links at the bottom of the page, but I thought I'd just bring it up once more. http://www.postsecret.blogspot.com is updated every sunday, and contains anonymous postcards sent in by viewers, each one telling a secret that they have never told anyone else. The postcards are frequently, funny, beautiful, cryptic and tragic by turns, as people share things that have changed their lives, or just their day.

Palm-tree...

This is a photo taken by my girlfriend in Barcelona. It was taken out of the window of a moving coach, and I love how well it came out, despite being a split-second shot.I think that the angle, and the contrast of the palm-tree against the sky gives it a really modern feeling. Unfortunately it doesn't come up very well on here, but if anyone would like to see the original, just email me: mailto:mjezebelle@postmaster.co.uk

Am I bipolar?

I very rarely take online personality tests now, and its even rarer that I take them seriously. I think well-done ones can be interesting though, and this outcome raised some thoughts:

You Are 88% Bipolar

You have some serious ups and downs, maybe to the point of endangering your own life.
Consult a doctor to see if you may truly have bipolar disorder.

A fellow blogspotter

http://samsmusicalwilderness.blogspot.com/

This would be the blog of one of my fellow QueerYouth members, et parce que je suis une very nice person, I have decided to do him the honour of posting his URL here.

MENSA yearbook

I recieved my Mensa yearbook today, and although they had printed my post, saying a bit about myself and that I would like to talk to other Mensans via email, they didn't print my email address! What a wasted effort...

And yes, this post was a crafty oppurtunity for me to point out that I am a member of Mensa...

Silly String Saves Lives?

Apparently, US soldiers in Iraq have been sent a shipment of the popular kids toy Silly String...They use it when they are about to enter buildings to detect booby traps, by spraying it across the room.If it falls to the floor, then the room is safe, but if it hangs in mid-air, its caught on a trip-wire. How bizarre...

George Bush Speech-writer

Have you ever listened to a George Bush speech, laughed at his inane comments, and thought to yourself "I could do better than that!"? Well, now is your chance, with The George Bush Speech Writer!

http://www.actofme.co.uk/bush_speech/bushspeechwriter.html

At first it might seem like there aren't many options availabe, but if you click on the blue tabs to the right of the word bank, there are a lot more quotes for you to use. There's also a nifty applause option to mimic the voice of the mindless masses that agree with him.

And just so you know what you're up against, here are some oratorial gems from the man himself:

"The trouble with the French is that they don't have a word for entrepreneur"
Riiiiiiight, George.

"We spent a lot of time talking about Africa, as we should. Africa is a nation that suffers from incredible disease."
Not a continent.Hell no, Africa has never been a continent, has it, George?

"We both use Colgate toothpaste."
He said that after a reporter asked what he had in common with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Camp David, Md., Feb. 23, 2001

"It is white."
And he said that after being asked by a child in Britain what the White House was like, July 19, 2001

Remind me why he's in charge of the most powerful nation on earth, again?

The Killers

Here are some photos from the best night of my life, seeing The Killers at The Bataclan, Paris, on the 16th of November 2006. They aren't my photos, they were taken by a professional photographer, but I think they capture the spirit of that night really well. Some more will follow in another post.

Another Postsecret picture. Who is this girl? She reminds me of Juliette Binoche, she seems to have that sort of French air about her. Any thoughts?

She Walks In Beauty

In case anyone is wondering, this site is named after a line in a poem I adore by Lord Byron.

She walks in beauty, like the night
O'er cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meets in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellow'd to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade more, one ray less,
Had half impair'd the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

Jezebelle

Shock Horror

A woman had her throat slit at the bottom of my road the other day.

She survived, thank god.

Apparently she'd been having a row with her boyfriend and he slashed her throat open with a broken bottle.

Jezebelle is very excited to announce that she finally has season two of The L Word on DVD! Ah, finally, a Shane fix...

So far I have only watched the first two and a half episodes, but it's still very good, and doesn't disappoint on the sexiness front either...
